Meet The Band
Our Story
In 2018, Bart and Liesa Elliott launched Polkawagen [Pohl-kuh-vah-gen], a German-Czech polka band that tours year-round throughout the Southeast USA.
This passionate and multi-instrumental husband-wife duo loves sharing the joy of their Eastern and Western European roots by performing exuberant music from Bavaria/Germany, Bohemia/Czechoslovakia/Moravian, Poland, Slovenia, and the USA — featuring lively folk songs, polkas, waltzes, and novelty tunes in a unique blend of traditional and modern sounds.
THIS YEAR, IN 2026, BART & LIESA ARE CELEBRATING 30 YEARS AS A MARRIED COUPLE AND PERFORMING LIVE TOGETHER!

Liesa Renè
Accordion, Keyboards, Vocals
Liesa's musical journey began on the piano at age 5. In the years that followed, she began playing the flute in the school band and singing at her local church.
Bart
MalletKAT, Percussion, Vocals
Bart's creativity and performance tendencies were evident at a very young age. By age 10, he was performing as a magician & ventriloquist, with his musical interests following a few years later.
